During the Fall Portland Cement Association ("PCA") meeting, the J. Gleason Leadership Award¹, a very significant award, was presented to a PCA member based on the "Business Continuity." We are pleased to announce that the award was presented to our very own Dan Nugent, Senior Vice President – Technical Services and Government Affairs. This award recognizes contributions that positively affect operations, including regulatory advocacy, federal advocacy, research, standards, safety and health, and other initiatives related to manufacturing and operations. We applaud Dan for the very well deserved recognition that not only underlines his positive contributions to our industry, but also, recognizes the leadership of Buzzi Unicem USA in the cement arena.

Over the past few years the Buzzi Unicem team at the Bonner Springs Terminal has been undertaking a beatification program to improve the aesthetics of the facility. The significant improvements that have resulted from these efforts were recently recognized by the Bonner Beautiful Commission and the City of Bonner Springs who presented the terminal with their "Bonner Beautiful Annual Beautification Award."

This unsolicited award is a tribute to the hard work and excellent results achieved by the Bonner Springs team.

The Portland Cement Association (PCA), founded in 1916, is the premier policy, research, education, and market intelligence organization serving America's cement manufacturers. The Association promotes safety, sustainability, and innovation in all aspects of construction, fosters continuous improvement in cement manufacturing and distribution, and generally promotes economic growth and sound infrastructure investment.
The PCA Chairman's Safety Performance Awards recognize outstanding safety performance in the manufacturing of Portland cement. For the 2017 awards, a total of 9 winners were selected from 100 cement facilities across the U.S. found to be the highest performers in safety in 2016. Buzzi Unicem USA's Chattanooga Plant was one of the plants honored with this award, having completed 225,130 man-hours of work in 2016 without any reportable accidents.
